Saying "Bismillah" (in the name of God) serves as a reminder to individuals to refrain from engaging in any wrongdoings. The practice of uttering God's name instills a sense of mindfulness and contemplation before committing an offense. It prompts individuals to reflect on the potential conflict between their actions and the sacredness of God's name.

The very first words in the Qur'an, in the first Surah (chapter) al-Fatiha (The Opener) are: "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem" In the name of Allah the most Merciful, The Especially Merciful.

At the beginning of every Surah (chapter) in the Qur'an, apart from Surah At-Taubah (chapter 9: The Repentance), begin with, "Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem". They are there for a reminder to remember Who the following act Is for, Allah, the Most Merciful,  The Especially Merciful.

Begin with Bismillah before doing any action (as long as it is pleasing to Allah) to initiate blessings, seeking help, protection and as a reminder for whom you are doing the righteous action for, Allah!

Before eating you must say Bismillah, before entering the restroom, before prayer, before dressing, before undressing, before making a supplication (Dua), before drinking, when entering the home, when leaving the house, when waking up, before going to sleep and before many daily tasks, In Shaa Allah.

By saying Bismillah you are adding Barakah (blessing) to the action, it also acts as a protection against the Shaytaan (an evil spirit in Islam, inciting humans and jinn to sin by whispering [وَسْوَسَة, waswasa] in their hearts [قَلْب qalb]).

Although all the above are correct, we also must note that when saying Bismillah we are genuinely requesting Allah's assistance and bounties. so reap the bounties of Allah and begin with Bismillah!

"Any important work that does not begin with Bismillah, is void of any Barakah." [Hadith]
