Adh-Dhariyat 51, verse 49
وَمِن كُلِّ شَىْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
“And of all things We created two mates; perhaps you will remember.”
All things are in twos: sex/genders in plants and animals, by which one individual is complementary to another; in the subtle forces of nature. Day and night, positive and negative electricity, forces of attraction and repulsion: and numerous other opposites, each fulfilling its purpose, and contributing to the working of Allah's Universe; and in the moral and spiritual world. Love and Aversion, Mercy and Justice, Striving and Rest and so on; all fulfilling their functions according to the Artistry and wonderful Purpose of Allah. Everything has its own counterpart or pair or complement. Allah Alone is One, with none like Him or needed to complement Him. These are noble things to contemplate. And they lead us to a true understanding of Allah's Purpose and Message.
"Have We not made the earth a resting place? And the mountains as stakes? And We created you in pairs."
[Qur'an: An-Naba (The Great News) 78, verse 6-8]
We not made the earth a resting place? Here Allah is telling us that He has made the earth an establishment, a place that is subservient to us, a firm and serene resting place. A place for us to establish ourselves by the Grace of our Creator. The earth does not shake continuously or produce foul and harmful gasses etc, it does as Allah wills, when He wills.
And mountains as stakes? Have you considered the mountains are the stakes which keep the earth from quaking, stopping it from trembling, making it stable and firm. Since the earth's crust is thin it has a high possibility of shaking, therefore Allah ﷻ (SubhanAllahu wa Ta'ala - the Most Glorified, the Most High) created the mountains to act as stakes or pegs in order to stabilise the earth's crust and prevent it from shaking.. The mountains pegs which are unseen and beneath the earth, are known to be at least double the height of the actual seen mountain above, they are the root of the mountain, acting as an anchor for the earth, SubhanAllah. “And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them...” [Surah Al-Anbiya 21, (The Prophets), verse 31]
And We created you in pairs. Meaning He created male and female, by means of procreation and to enjoy one another.
How Glorified Allah ﷻ (SubhanAllahu wa Ta'ala - the Most Glorified, the Most High) is by creating the fruits, plants, animals and us humans, in order to reproduce. Allah ﷻ (SubhanAllahu wa Ta'ala - the Most Glorified, the Most High) has created plants for reproduction, its a little more complex than the human reproduction. Here's a little science lesson... Some trees and plants bear only male flowers and some bear only female flowers on separate plants these are called ‘dioecious’’. Another tree or plant can produce both male and female flowers on the same plant or tree, these are called ‘monoecious’. Whereas there are plant and trees which produce flowers which have both male and female reproductive parts.
Proven by science, unlike humans and animals; plants are immobile and cannot seek out partners. They rely on the wind, water, insects and animals in the process of flower pollination and reproduction.
When Allah created things, He created them in pairs, not only for the purpose of reproduction. He also created pairs that are linked to each other or opposed to each other. Here are a few examples: male and female, heaven and earth, land and sea, day and night, life and death, high and low, negative and positive, obedience and disobedience. ‘That you might remember your Lord and worship Him.’
All Paired creations contribute to the integrative design of the universe. The ‘’up’ and ‘down’, the protons and anti-protons, the positive and negative electricity charges in the universe has no consciousness. All of these well structured and predetermined formations. Opposite pairs of forces and opposite pairs of particles owe their existence to the Omnipotent Power.
The Author of the creation and the Designer, it is He who generated the pairs of particles and forces and set the opposite particles and forces to operate in a harmonious unity until a specified term, only known by Allah ﷻ (SubhanAllahu wa Ta'ala - the Most Glorified, the Most High) . ‘For those who take heed the evidence is clear.’
